Sustainable Development Facilitation (SDF) is a successful sustainable development facilitation service established in Western Australia in 2000. SDF has the experience and capability to conduct and analyse a wide range of economic, social, cultural and environmental impact through stakeholder-based and action research.
The background of the company is firmly rooted in integrating development towards more sustainable results, encouraging a high level of participation and in practical implementation processes that facilitate follow-on activities. The company has strong strategic planning, analysis and management expertise that allows the findings of research and project work to be closely linked to expressed interests of key stakeholders in moving towards more sustainable outcomes.
The company supports and facilitates strategic planning, policy development, research and assessment processes. Developing policy submissions, project feasibility, strategic and business plans, consultation, presentations and facilitating workshops and project design, evaluation and resource mobilisation are followed through with thorough reporting and implementation guidelines. SDF has a distinct method of working that involves the client in every step of the process so that at
the end of the contract, the client has the tools and knowledge to progress the project as successfully as possible.
Dorothy Lucks, the Executive Director started her career in the UK running her own successful company as a small business development consultant conducting feasibility studies for business expansion and redirection in order to create employment opportunities. She completed her BSc and post graduate extension course in Entrepreneurial development then continued her studies to complete an MBA. Dorothy is currently working on her PhD in Sustainable Development at the University of Western Australia.
SDF is very versatile and works in different sectors; for instance, Dorothy has spent more than 15 years with international development organisations such as the United Nations, CARE International, The Asian Development Bank and the World Bank. Her successes include design and management of community development, microcredit and employment development programs. Other tasks have included action research, participatory community needs identification, design and management of assistance packages, facilitation of strategic plans, institutional development and brokering of partnerships. SDF has a proven national and international track record in project design, implementation, supervision and evaluation in strategic sustainable development, participatory community development, micro-credit and poverty alleviation. Dorothy also has experience in rural businesses (e.g. seeds and agricultural inputs, perishable consumer items) tourism, environment, resource and service industries, micro-finance, franchising, distributorships and cooperatives.
